New Construction Electrician
As your new construction electrician, Gragg Electrical Services takes on the comprehensive responsibility of designing and installing the entire electrical system for your new home. This is a multi-phased process that requires close coordination with the general contractor and other trades. We bring our extensive experience and meticulous attention to detail to every new build. Our work begins long before the first wire is pulled, starting with a thorough review of the architectural plans. We ensure that the electrical design is not only code-compliant but also perfectly tailored to the homeowner’s lifestyle and future needs. A new home provides a blank canvas to create the perfect electrical system, and we excel at this process.
The first major phase of our work is the underground electrical service. If your new home will be served by underground power lines, we will work with the excavator to install the necessary conduit from the utility’s connection point to your home’s foundation and meter location. This must be done at the very early stages of construction. We coordinate with the utility company to ensure our installation meets all of their specific requirements for a safe and reliable service lateral. This foundational work is critical for bringing power to the construction site and ultimately to your finished home.
Once the house is framed, we begin the electrical “rough-in” phase. This is the most intensive part of our job. Our electricians will install hundreds of electrical boxes throughout the home’s open stud bays for every planned outlet, switch, and light fixture. We then methodically drill holes and run thousands of feet of high-quality copper electrical cable, connecting every box back to the main panel location. We install the main electrical panel and any necessary subpanels during this phase. All of our wiring is run neatly, securely stapled, and protected from damage, ensuring it will pass the rigorous rough-in inspection.
During the rough-in, we also install the wiring for all of your home’s dedicated and specialized circuits. This includes the heavy-duty 240-volt circuits for the range, dryer, water heater, and HVAC system. We run dedicated 120-volt circuits for all the required kitchen and bathroom appliances. We also install all the low-voltage wiring for your home’s technology systems. This can include ethernet cables for a robust home network, coaxial cables for television, and wiring for security systems and speakers. A professional rough-in sets the stage for a fully integrated and technologically advanced home.
After the drywall, painting, and flooring are complete, our team returns for the “finish” or “trim-out” phase. This is where the system comes to life. We install every single device, including all the receptacles, light switches, dimmer switches, and GFCI outlets. We assemble and hang all of your chosen light fixtures, from recessed lights and ceiling fans to heavy chandeliers and delicate sconces. We make the final connections in the main panel, installing and labeling every circuit breaker. We then energize the system and test every single point to ensure it is operating perfectly.
Throughout the entire new construction process, we are responsible for all permitting and inspections with the local building authority. We schedule and meet with the electrical inspector for the underground inspection, the rough-in inspection, and the final inspection. Our deep knowledge of the National Electrical Code and local amendments ensures that our work passes these inspections the first time, preventing costly delays in the construction schedule. We pride ourselves on our efficient and professional coordination with all parties involved in the build.

I've been very happy with Gragg. So far I've used them for 2 projects and anticipate more. The staff is knowledgeable, thorough, and courteous.
Mike was great. He answered all my questions, explained everything that he was doing, and cleaned everything up when he was done
Working with Mike was an absolute gold‑standard experience. His professionalism, deep education in his field, and commitment to safety were evident from the moment he arrived. He came prepared with creative solutions, fair pricing, and a level of thoroughness that ensured every party understood the codes, the safety considerations, and the work being performed. Mike doesn’t just fix a problem — he teaches, protects, and earns your trust in the process. He treats your home with the same care he’d give his own, even bringing his own shoe covers without being asked. That level of respect and attention to detail gave our family real peace of mind. We knew we were safe, we weren’t being overcharged, and we weren’t being sold anything unnecessary. His expertise, execution, and integrity are unmatched. Because of the experience we had with Mike, I will be a loyal customer for life. I can’t speak highly enough of him, his skill set, or the way he conducts his work. I recommend him wholeheartedly to anyone who wants a true professional who delivers excellence every single time.
Gragg Electric is the best! They saved our Memorial Day Weekend! Corey was the best! Highly recommend this company!
Amazing service! Gragg managed to fit us in on a busy holiday weekend Friday. Corey was fantastic—he diagnosed and fixed the problem in no time at all.

Update….Used Gragg again on 5/15/26. Still same great service. They are our go to for electrical work always! Professional. Arrived timely. Explained issues. Nice guys. Reasonable price. We will call them in future for electrical work. Recommend them to anyone looking for an electrician.
I was selling my house and the buyers home inspection listed a few electrical items that they wanted to repair with our close date coming up I reached out to Gragg electrical they came out same day to give an estimate and did all the work a few days later. They were polite cleaned up and worked and acted very professional. Next the city inspector came out and said they did a good job but he wanted a couple things changed Gragg came back and met the inspector at the house they told me prior to the inspector arriving they would do anything they need to do to make everything right however they wanted to talk to the inspector because they didn’t agree with his list well they when over everything with the inspector and in the end Gragg Electrical was right and no repairs were needed. Very happy with the work and the crew and they would be the first place I would call if I need a electrician again
BRO! Gragg electrical services, and this guy here is awesome!!! If I ever have an electrical issue again I know who I'm calling. I thought he was going to be here after hours so I was prepared for the after hours dispatch fee. He got here before after hours so the dispatch fee was greatly reduced. I believe it only did take him maybe 15-20 minutes and he figured out the problem got her fixed. I don't think I've ever done a review for a company. But if it helps y'all and it helps him I'm down. Thank you so much again Mike. My daughter has power in her room again. I salute you dude.
Corey was dead spot on! You're lucky to have him for an employee! I will use Craig electric for all my electrical needs from now on!
Fast, friendly service at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend their services
I needed an electrician to replace some loose outlet slots on my mom‘s Louisville, Ohio house. I’m listing it for sale after her passing, unfortunately. Gragg electric, from the woman who answers the phone and schedules the appointment to the actual electrician, Michael, were all very helpful, professional and personable. Michael was very communicative and would text me arrival times and actually showed up on that time and even before. He was very accommodating, even doing this job before he actually “clocked on” for work. He brought his own shoe/boot covers and was respectful of me and of my mom‘s home. He even labeled Mom‘s main breaker box which, for some reason was not previously labeled. I would definitely recommend Gragg and Mike Thank you for making this stressful time a little less so
Excellent service! Mike was very professional, called appropriately ahead of time to make sure someone was home. He was upfront about all estimates needed, providing good information the whole time. He answered my questions appropriately and made me feel at ease about my electrical work. Overall, would recommend!

We would highly recommend this Company. Besides doing excellent work, they treated us extremely well. We felt as if everyone that works there had our best interest in mind.
I setup an appointment online over the weekend for a service call and received a phone call first thing Monday morning. They were able to have a technician out that morning. Mike W. came out and reviewed our problem with a breaker and was able to diagnose some of the issues that caused it. He also explained everything that was found and why it could cause a problem. Very professional and I thought the cost was reasonable.
Excellent service. We had a few outlets in our kitchen go out and lights were flickering. Mike came out so fast and not only got them working but also checked the whole house to make sure everything was working. He was very thorough and made sure we knew what was going on.
Mike did an excellent job diagnosing the issue and solved the problem despite adverse weather conditions. He was courteous and polite and very respectful.
Mike was very cordial, clear in his explanations of the work/estimate that would have to be done and the options that I have. I look forward to having them fix my electrical needs.
Great local company in East Canton. Very knowledgeable and skilled crews. I would highly recommend for your next electrical job!
The technician who came out was thorough and very pleasant. He determined what the issue was with malfunctioning landscape lighting and provided a reasonable quote for repair. Parts needed to be ordered and I’m expecting the same outstanding service when replacement parts are installed.
This was my first time using this company. Response time was great. There was no charge for coming and making an estimate for the work. The electrician was friendly and explained everything. I think this is a great company. Rates were reasonable and I am very pleased with their work.
I could not be happier with my experience, prompt, efficient, clean and diagnosed the problem quickly. I would highly recommend Gragg Electrc
Gragg Electric workmanship is top-notch. Their service and expertise are unmatched, but most importantly, especially in today's economy, they are HONEST and fair priced. I highly recommend them for any electrical work that you may need.
Great experience! Mike was very knowledgeable.Helped me understand all the details of my project without being pushy with sales! Definitely recommend him!
I called Gragg Electrical Services, LLC to come out regarding my dryer outlet not getting enough power. They were able to get me on the schedule the next day at no additional charge! Cory Boosz came out timely and found the issue. He kindly explained what was going on and some potential solutions. Cory did a great job fixing the problem and didn’t even have to turn the power off so I could continue working. He also cleaned up after he was finished. Thank you Cory and Gragg for providing us with kindness and relief during a difficult time. I will definitely be using this company again.
We just finished a detached garage build and needed the whole structure wired from the subpanel to the outlets and lighting. The electrician from Gragg was efficient, clearly experienced with this type of work, and the finished product looks exactly like what I had pictured. Everything is properly grounded, the circuits are sensibly distributed, and it passed the electrical inspection without a single correction. For a project I was a little nervous about managing it went about as smoothly as possible.
The lights in my living room had been flickering intermittently for months and two different electricians had looked at it without finding the cause. Gragg Electrical spent the time to actually trace the issue back to a loose neutral connection at the panel that had been creating voltage fluctuations throughout the circuit. Problem solved on the first real diagnosis. Sometimes you just need someone who is willing to look harder and these guys did exactly that.
Our kitchen renovation required running new circuits for a double oven and an island with dedicated outlet circuits and Gragg Electrical coordinated seamlessly with the rest of our contractors. The rough in work was done on schedule, the inspector had zero notes, and the finish work after drywall was clean and precise. My contractor told me they were the easiest sub on the whole job and that kind of professionalism ripples through an entire project.
We had an issue where we lost power due to the neutral wire breaking on the side of the house. I called Gragg Electric and they were able to send someone out within a few hours. We ended up needing to have not only the wire replaced, but the meter box and additional grounding installed to bring it up to current code. Everyone at Gragg Electric was very kind and professional and worked quickly to get our power restored. I would highly recommend them.
Corey was awesome. He did the job quickly and efficiently. He also answered all my questions.
Cory was so nice, respectful and knowledgeable. He had my problem solved within 15 minutes! I would definitely recommend Gragg in the future and will be working with them again to wire my She-shed!! So excited. A+++++
We had a very large tree fall between the power pole and the house tearing the wires from the house. Gragg is one of the nicest companies I've worked with. Mike W. was our Electrician for the hurry up job. He is professional and helpful, not to mention that he is very nice. I'm glad I picked Gragg Electrical Services and I will happily recommend them!
He was professional and very knowledgeable about the electrical work done.I would highly recommend.
They are quick, professional, and nice to work with. I would definitely recommend them and plan to work with them again.
Great service and people Mike was a pleasure to talk to and work with great company.
Urgent issue. Arrived on time and resolved the issue quickly and ensured everything was safe thank you
We had a recurring problem with loss of power to part of our house that was all on the same circuit. We had a subscription with another company, but when we called they couldn’t get us an appointment for several weeks. We called Gragg and they came out in 3 days. We had a technician name Cory, who was very knowledgeable and diagnosed and fixed the problem very quickly. He explained the problem in terms I could understand. He was competent and friendly to boot. You could tell he loved his job too.
Family can now live in safety because of the awesome people at Gragg Electrical Services. We had 3 outlets with the loosest recepticles you've ever seen. None of our cell phone chargers would stay plugged in... Great electricians and a blessing to our family. Came over to the west side of Massillon for no extra travel fee. Awesome, affordable, and family-oriented.
Called in and spoke with Brittany about needing an estimate, she was so kind and thorough. Cory came out to provide the estimate and was incredibly nice and professional. He took the time to explain everything clearly and answer my questions. I really appreciated his honesty and how easy he was to talk to. Great experience overall!
Very satisfied with quality of service and work will use Gragg for any further electrical work.
Service was quick and complete. I will definitely use them again for my electrical needs.
Excellent, friendly service. Fair price. Mike W. Did a great job!! Thank you

Cory was very professional when he arrived. He was respectful of our home and explained the new safety requirements that are now included in their work. I feel very confident working with Gragg.
Mike did an awesome job on our estimate! Was extremely thorough and helped me understand the whole process!
Cory was very knowledgeable and friendly about answering questions, I don’t know the ins and outs about home electricity. We went through the inspection in detail and gave an easy to understand explanation about what is needed. I recommend these folks to anyone looking for a home electrician.
The website is amazing and user friendly! Customer service was outstanding and courteous. Corey was very informative, knowledgeable, polite and prompt. I will be calling Gragg for future electrical work and referring others.
Dr. Frankenstein could take some notes from Kyle and Cam at Gragg Electric, who did an amazing job resurrecting our ancient generator from the dead. Kyle’s customer service was phenomenal. Brittany (hopefully that’s how it’s spelled; my apologies if it’s “Britneigh”) who scheduled the appointment was incredibly friendly and helpful. Cost was reasonable and what I would expect from the service rendered. I would definitely recommend Gragg Electric to others, and I will be having them back for my next electric project!
Great employee that came to our house. The gentleman told us exactly what we needed and why. Answered any questions we had. Great experience!
Mike and his team were able to finish a panel install and completed multiple fixes. Will definitely recommend to others.
Fantastic service! Highly recommend Gragg Electric. Affordable and reliable! Thanks for providing the necessary upgrades we needed.
Andrew and Harley put in an overhead light in my grandma’s living room. They were thorough, double checked and gave us options when something unexpected popped up, and were very kind to my grandma. Highly recommend for their timeliness, excellent communication and friendliness.
Had Mike come do the quote and it was fast and great service. Asked if he himself could come do the final work just from how thorough he was with everything. Highly recommend him.

Most Common New Construction Electrician Questions
Building a new home is a complex undertaking, and the electrical system is one of its most critical components. Understanding the process can help you make informed decisions. Here are the answers to the most common questions about new construction electrical work.
The process of wiring a new house is a carefully choreographed sequence of events that is integrated into the overall construction schedule. It generally begins after the foundation is poured and the house has been fully framed. The first phase is the “rough-in,” which is the most extensive part of the electrical work. During the rough-in, with the wall studs and ceiling joists still exposed, electricians install all the electrical boxes for switches, outlets, and lights. They then drill holes through the framing and pull all the necessary electrical cables from the main panel location to each of these boxes. All the wiring for the entire house is run during this phase.
After the rough-in wiring is complete, it must be inspected by the local electrical inspector. This “pre-drywall” or “rough-in” inspection is critical. The inspector verifies that the correct type of wire was used, that it is properly supported and protected, and that the boxes are installed correctly. Once this inspection passes, the builder can proceed with installing insulation and drywall, which will cover up all the wiring. This is why the rough-in inspection is so important; it is the last chance to see the bones of the electrical system.
The final electrical phase is the “finish” or “trim-out.” This happens much later in the build, after the drywall is finished and painted. The electricians return to install all the end devices. They connect all the outlets, switches, and dimmers. They hang and connect all the light fixtures, ceiling fans, and chandeliers. They also make the final connections in the electrical panel, installing all the breakers and labeling the circuit directory. After the trim-out is complete, a final electrical inspection is performed to ensure everything is working safely before the home can receive its Certificate of Occupancy.
The design of the electrical layout is a collaborative process between you, your builder, and your electrical contractor. The process usually starts with the architectural plans, which will show a basic, code-minimum layout for outlets and lights. However, this is just a starting point. We at Gragg Electrical Services will sit down with you to customize this layout to fit your specific lifestyle and needs. This is your opportunity to think about how you will live in each room and to add the outlets, switches, and lighting that will make your life more convenient.
We typically recommend a “walk-through” of the framed house before the rough-in wiring begins. Walking through the physical space makes it much easier to visualize where furniture will go and where you will need power. We will ask you questions to prompt your thinking. Where will you put your bed and end tables in the master bedroom? Where will the Christmas tree go in the living room? Do you want an outlet in the pantry for charging small appliances? Do you want a switched outlet for lamps in the family room? Planning these details in advance is much easier and cheaper than trying to add them after the walls are closed up.
We can also provide expert advice on modern lighting design and technology. We can help you plan a multi-layered lighting scheme with recessed lights for general illumination and pendants for task lighting over a kitchen island. We can suggest locations for three-way and four-way switches to add convenience to large rooms and hallways. We will also plan for all of your low-voltage needs, like data, TV, and security wiring. Our goal is to combine our technical expertise with your personal vision to create the perfect electrical plan for your new home.
A load calculation is a standardized, detailed calculation that an electrician performs to determine the total electrical demand of a new house. It is one of the most important steps in the design phase of a new construction project. The rules for this calculation are laid out in the National Electrical Code (NEC). The purpose is to accurately determine the minimum size for the home’s main electrical service (e.g., 100-amp, 200-amp, etc.) and the main electrical panel. A proper load calculation is essential to ensure that the home’s electrical system is not undersized, which could lead to safety hazards and performance issues.
The calculation is a comprehensive tally of all the electricity the home will use. It starts with a general lighting and receptacle load based on the home’s total square footage. Then, it adds in the required circuits for the kitchen, pantry, and laundry room. Finally, it adds the specific loads for all the major “fixed-in-place” appliances. This includes the furnace, air conditioner, water heater, range, oven, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and any other large electrical loads planned for the home. The NEC provides certain “demand factors” that can be applied, as it recognizes that it is highly unlikely all of these items will be running at their full power at the exact same time.
Performing this load calculation accurately is a critical responsibility of the new construction electrician. It is what ensures your new home will have a robust electrical service that can handle all of its modern needs without tripping the main breaker. It also ensures you will have plenty of capacity for future additions, like an EV charger. For most new single-family homes today, a 200-amp service is the standard, and the load calculation will almost always confirm this. A professional electrician will never guess at the service size; they will always perform a detailed load calculation to justify it.
Low-voltage wiring is a category of electrical wiring that operates at a much lower voltage than the standard 120-volt power that runs your lights and outlets. Low-voltage systems typically operate at 50 volts or less. This type of wiring is used for communication, data, and signal transmission rather than for power. Common examples of low-voltage wiring in a new home include ethernet cables (Cat6) for your home computer network, coaxial cable for television service, speaker wire for a whole-house audio system, and wiring for your security system, cameras, and doorbell.
In a new construction project, it is extremely advantageous to have all of this low-voltage wiring installed during the rough-in phase along with the standard electrical wiring. Running these cables while the walls are open is vastly easier and cheaper than trying to fish them through finished walls later on. A comprehensive low-voltage rough-in ensures that your new home is “future-ready” with the infrastructure for all modern technologies. It allows you to have reliable, hardwired internet connections in every room, to cleanly mount televisions without visible wires, and to have a professionally installed security system.
Whether low-voltage wiring is included in a standard electrical bid can vary from one contractor to another. At Gragg Electrical Services, we believe that a modern home requires a modern wiring plan. We will discuss your technology needs with you during the design phase and can provide a comprehensive proposal that includes the installation of all the necessary low-voltage wiring for your data, TV, and security needs. We recommend pre-wiring every key room, even if you do not plan to use it right away. The small upfront cost of the extra cable is well worth the future flexibility it provides.
The electrical system for a new home build undergoes a series of mandatory inspections by the local building department to ensure it is safe and code-compliant. There are typically three or four main electrical inspections. The first is often an “underground” or “slab” inspection, which happens if you have electrical conduit installed in the ground under your concrete slab foundation. The inspector will check the conduit before the concrete is poured. The next and most significant inspection is the “rough-in” inspection. This occurs after all the boxes and wires have been installed but before the walls are closed with insulation and drywall.
During the rough-in inspection, the inspector will walk through the entire house and examine the wiring. They will check that the correct size and type of wire was used for each circuit. They will verify that the wires are properly stapled and protected from damage. They will look inside the electrical boxes to ensure the connections are made correctly and the boxes are not overcrowded. They will also inspect the installation of the main electrical panel. The rough-in must pass this inspection before the builder is allowed to proceed with closing up the walls.
The final inspection happens after the house is completely finished. The electrician will have installed all the outlets, switches, and light fixtures. The inspector will come back for this “final” inspection to verify that all these devices are working correctly and have been installed properly. They will test GFCI outlets, check for proper grounding, and ensure everything is safe. Once the final electrical inspection is passed, along with the final plumbing and building inspections, the city will issue the Certificate of Occupancy, which certifies that the home is safe and legal to live in. Our team manages this entire inspection process for you.
“Future-proofing” your new home’s electrical system means making smart decisions during the construction phase that will easily accommodate technologies and needs that may arise in the future. This can save you a tremendous amount of money and hassle down the road. The most important step in future-proofing is to install a large enough electrical service and panel from the start. We almost always recommend a 200-amp service with a large, 40-space panel. This provides ample power and plenty of empty breaker slots for future additions like a hot tub, a workshop, or an electric car charger.
Another key strategy is to run extra wiring during the rough-in phase when it is easy and inexpensive to do so. We recommend running a dedicated circuit for a future freezer in the garage or basement, even if you do not have one yet. It is also wise to run an extra heavy-duty 240-volt circuit to the garage for a future EV charger. Even if you do not drive an electric car now, the next owner of your home might, and having the circuit ready is a huge selling point. Running extra conduit from the attic to the basement can also make it easier to add wiring later.
Future-proofing also heavily involves low-voltage wiring. We recommend running a bundle of low-voltage cables, including at least two Cat6 ethernet cables and a coaxial cable, to every major room in the house. This creates a robust and reliable home network backbone for streaming, gaming, and smart home devices. Even with good Wi-Fi, a hardwired connection is always faster and more reliable. Pre-wiring for ceiling speakers, security cameras, and a video doorbell are other smart future-proofing steps. Our team can help you think through all of these options to build a home that is truly ready for the future.
Effective coordination with the general contractor and the other construction trades is a critical skill for a new construction electrician. A new home build is like a complex symphony, and each trade must perform their part at the right time. Our project managers at Gragg Electrical Services work in constant communication with the site superintendent or general contractor. We understand the construction sequence and know exactly when we need to be on-site to perform our work without holding up other trades like the plumbers or the HVAC installers.
During the rough-in phase, there is a lot of activity happening within the open walls. We have to coordinate with the plumbers who are running their water pipes and drain lines, and with the HVAC technicians who are installing ductwork. We work together to share the space within the studs and joists, ensuring that we do not drill through each other’s work or create conflicts. This requires professional courtesy and clear communication. We attend site meetings and use scheduling software to ensure our work is seamlessly integrated into the overall project timeline.
This coordination continues through the final stages of the project. We must schedule our trim-out phase after the painters are finished to avoid getting paint on our new devices. We coordinate with the flooring installers and the cabinet makers to ensure our outlet and switch boxes are flush and accessible. Our ability to work as a collaborative team member is one of the reasons that builders and contractors in the East Canton area trust us with their projects. A smooth-running job site is an efficient job site, and we do our part to make that happen.
